  • A hidden garden in the heart of Paris: the Jardin Alpin

The Alpine garden located in the heart of the sumptuous Jardin des Plantes is not as well known as you might think. Nevertheless, it remains just as magnificent thanks to its unique preservation over nearly 4000 m².

Do you know why it is called “The Alpine Garden”?

We must first go back to the middle of the 19th century, where the first alpine gardens appeared mainly at altitude in the Alps. At the beginning of the 20th century, the first alpine garden in the plain was developed, that of the Jardin des Plantes.

Its biggest secret is that we will give this garden the name of alpine, because of the origin of the plants collected mainly in the Alps.

A little anecdote: The garden is home to many other curiosities, such as the first two plantations of kiwis introduced in France! Isn’t that interesting then?

The Alpine Garden is the perfect opportunity for a natural and original romantic walk!
